Kristie and Lauren are two best friends who truly believe that yoga should be for EVERYONE.

Be Brave Yoga as a concept is about creating an inclusive space where everyone feels accepted and supported, regardless of their background. We show up authentically as ourselves so that you have the freedom to do so too.

It almost feels like somewhere along the line yoga became an exclusive club that you had to look, behave and dress a certain way to be accepted. Be Brave Yoga is all about smashing these stereotypes. We welcome you to show up in your favourite old t-shirt with the holes in it. We welcome you to show up after a big night or weekend when you’re feeling a tad hungover. We welcome you to show up after you’ve gorged yourself at the all you can eat buffet.

Kristie Johnstone

With two decades of practice experience under her belt, Kristie brings a wealth of knowledge to her Yoga and Pilates teachings. She completed her teacher training in 2016, and delivers classes that emphasize the synergy between body and breath, biomechanics and dynamic movement. Her classes feature strong, flowing and intelligent Vinyasa sequences, blissful, deeply relaxing Yin and invigorating whole-body Pilates workouts. Kristie crafts each class with care and heart, curating playlists that uplift and enhance your experience. Her thoughtful selection of music adds depth and resonance to your practice, creating a harmonious atmosphere that elevates the mind-body connection for her students.

With a philosophy rooted in universal connection and non-judgement, Kristie fosters a happy atmosphere with her playful attitude and infectious laugh.

Lauren Pettigrove

Lauren has a rich background in movement, with 20 years experience as a trained dancer. She brings grace and fluidity to her yoga practice and teachings. Since completing her teacher training in 2021, Lauren has honed her skills in guiding students through strong, free flowing Vinyasa, grounded, compassionate Yin classes and facilitates deeply restful sound meditations. Her understanding of energetics woven together with a rich tapestry of music brings depth and vibrancy to her classes. By integrating energetics, Lauren guides her students to connect more deeply with their bodies and the subtle energy within.

Lauren creates a heart centric, immersive experience that supports your practice and facilitates deeper relaxation and focus. Her classes offer a multi-dimensional journey for her students blending movement, sound and energy work for a truly holistic experience.
